Some of us old folks

A little old man und his little old frau
Desired to make luv but couldn't recall how.
They called Doctor Ruth and asked her advice,
But the counsel she gave just didn't sound nice.

They bought a sex book and read every page,
There was no help in it for a couple their age.
The old man gave up. . .to his wife, gave his hand,
In a gesture of friendship. . . his mien was bland.

Naught Platonic for her, that frisky old frau,
Just spat on his hand and slapped at his brow.

Teaching and Learning

I followed a young father and a tiny girl crossing the parking lot at Von's Market Tuesday. She was holding on to a finger of his right hand. There was something
egalitarian about the pairing despite the great difference in their heights. He matched his pace to hers, not leading, guiding, pushing or pulling. There was nobody else in their world at that time, not even Mommy.

They came to the eight inch sidewalk curb and they both stopped with their feet against it. He still did not try to lift her on to the sidewalk or help her at all. She couldn't have been more than thirty inches tall; the curb was a problem she had not confronted before.

She put her right foot upon the curb but didn't know what to do next. She put the foot back down, did a wiggly little dance and hopped up on the curb with both feet.

I probably laughed out loud. What I wanted to do was to applaud both of those wonderful people. I guess my normal friends wondered what I was laughing about all day.

Entertainment at Jamestown

My wife and I were visiting her sister and brother-in-law in Jamestown. We went with them to rent a movie for the evening's entertainment. The parking lot of the movie rental store in that hilly little town was a paved hollow.

Chuck, our host parked the car by heading it into a concrete porch-like structure, the floor of which was higher than the top of the car. The front door of the store was at that level and access was by two long foot-ramps at the sides starting at the parking lot.

I stayed in the car while the other three went in to select and rent a movie. From the front seat of the car, I could see the edge of the porch and a rail above me. After a while a woman's figure appeared at the rail, above me. The edge of the porch prevented my seeing her legs below the knees and the upper edge of the windshield hid her face from me.

At that time I was still trying to heed the warning, "When a man looketh at a woman to lust after her, he has committed adultery already in his heart." I sat there for some minutes conflicted. I felt a little guilty about a definite attraction to the female figure above me. I realized that I had looked too long. But after a while the figure moved away from the rail and I could see the lovely face of my dear wife!

Amusement and relief from guilt were added to the mix of my feelings. And when I told my wife, she had to sort out her feelings too. I think that she was glad that after thirty years of marriage, I was still attracted to her, but she didn't know how to feel about my being attracted to her when I might have thought she was somebody else. movie
